"Amber Galbin opened a branch of the Department of Geology and Hydrology of NUOGP

This is the first and so far the only institution in Ukraine where students and geologists will study the subsoil and conduct research at an amber mining company.

In the village of Kryvytsia in the Dubrovytsia urban community, a building with the necessary amenities and a place to rest was set up for geologists who will study the subsoil. The building is located on a guarded base.

A few kilometers away is a deposit where amber is mined.

A branch of the Department of Geology and Hydrology of NUOGP will operate here.

The first guests of the branch were scientists from the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU), teachers from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering.

They came to the opening of the branch, and the next day they took several samples for their research at the Zalissia site.

Together with the specialists of the Rivne Nature Reserve, geologists also studied the impact of industrial amber mining on flora and fauna.

Not all foreign specialists have such quality facilities at their disposal, said Olena Remezova, head of the Solid Minerals Department at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who works extensively abroad.

The branch will affect the quality of education of students majoring in Earth Sciences, said Viktor Melnychuk, Acting Head of the Department of Geology and Hydrology of the NUOGP. After all, students will be able to participate in amber mining, thus consolidating theoretical knowledge with practical skills.

The work of the scientists at the branch is an opportunity to extract amber correctly and efficiently, from mining to reclamation. This is the opinion of Oleksandr Kokhan, Head of Sarny District State Administration.
